The nature walk

So today my sister, my dad, my brother, and I went to the north pond and another pond. There were so many honey bees out that if you said you didn't see any you would most likely be blind then. I saw a turtle that was probably 12 inches in diameter and I also saw little tiny Minos. When I would be on a path that would have really tall plants I would be really cooled down because today was really hot. There was a lot of milk weed. And we saw a lot of milk weed pods.

STRIKE

So on sunday night I found out that the teachers were going to go on strike. So that meant I would not have school on monday until they got to an agreement. I feel bad for all the teachers that are against it but they are forced to strike! So far all I know is that I wont have school on wednsday. I just don't want the strike to be long so I wont have a short summer break or I hope I wont have to go to school on Satrdays!!!!!!

Renegade Art Fair

So on sunday my sister, my mom, and I went the renegade art fair. It was soooo cool! There were so many cool booths! There was a booth that had little tiny tents for little kids to get in and yo could also get one. There was a booth made jewelry out of old type writer parts.There was a booth that sold wooden toys that were sooo cool. There a booth that sold really cool collars for dogs like the ones that greyhounds use ( that's the kind of dog were going to get). There was booth that sold these really cool city bags. There was a booth that sold these cute leather hand bags. There was a booth that sold things you can use as a bead for braclets, earings necklaces, rings, and way more. There was a booth that sold these really cool looking ugly dolls. There was a booth that sold jewelry that was food!

His First Apple

So one day I was eating an apple and my brother wanted some. So I gave him some. He would not stop eating it if I didn't give him any for a long time he would get made! Now he eats MY apple all the time and he still gets mad cuz I wont give him some!

First Day of School!

So my first day of school was awesome! I love my home room teacher! I love ALL of my teachers! Some of the students in my class are really annoying but all I care is that my bffl (best friend for life) is in my class. Then after school was over my bffl came over and we did homework. Yes we had homework on the first day of school!

Jimmy Johns

So one day my mom ordered Jimmy Johns and named our sandwiches. My was Rowan. Just Rowan! I know boring! My moms was Queen Mom. And my sisters was BUBBLE BUTT! Funny right??? When I got the sandwiches out and I was like "Mom why does this say Bubble Butt?" And my sister ran over and was like "What!" And we started laughing so hard I dropped my sandwich (don't worry I could still eat it). Well that picture went on facebook!

DIY and Pinterest

So one day my sister was on pinterest and she was like "We should do this!" And I came over and she showed me the second vest that is shown and I was like "I want to do that!" So we got a t-shirt and cut the sleeves out, cut the collar off the shirt, and cut the sides and we made that. Then the first one you see is a t-shirt too. All we had to do is cut the collar off cut the sleeves out, and use the sleeve fabric and tie the back three times. We added our own little part by cutting the bottom and making look awesome.

So I hope you can do one of these things all it takes is one shirt that you don't want anymore and scissors. BYE!

I am saving for......

Hi. I'm saving up for the newest kindle when I have the money. I want a kindle because the one I have is the first kindle by amazon ever made so its really big and dirty. I'm 2 dollars into my savings but I know I can do it. I also want a kindle because its easier to read when I lay down at night. I like to lay on my side but it was hard to read at night with a book because I would have to hold the book with my hands but I couldnt on my side but with my kindle I could so im happy that im going to get a new one!

Reading update!

So in my book, All the Lovely Bad Ones, the two main characters, kids, have gone to their grandmother's hotel and stay the whole summer. While there the two kids wake up the fox hill ghosts and they don't know how to put them back to sleep. They visited the library to dig up history on the town.  While in the library a pamphlet just fell off of the book shelf.  After that three ghost come and walk them through all the horrible stuff that had happened to them in their town.

The book is rather creepy - but keeps me engaged!

Dr Who - some nerdie goodness

Today - I had my Dr Who and the timey whimey wibbley wobbley writing camp.

So in my Dr. Who camp we made our own doctor in a group. My group has a really good drawer. We wanted the new doctor to be a girl with a top hat (the way we drew it was really cute) and shes really fashionable. She has nice orange hair and tall black cute boots.  Who wouldn't want to be her companion?

My Summer Purchase

My summer purchase - from 826CHI.

At the boring store I got a comic book that is called Giants Beware. I also got a a key robot cover for when I get keys.

I hope to finish my current book and start this one.  My sister, who read it before me, said it is a quick read.  I hope to tell you about the book soon.

Antique Taco

In my new writing camp we went to a restaurant, the Antique Taco in Wicker Park.  We were food critics.

We tasted their guac and chips, chicken taco, pork taco, and for desert we had a hochata milk shake and a chocolate tart thingy.
 
The guac and chips were really good but the guac is a little spicy for all you spicy food lovers.

 The chicken taco was good but not my fav because the pickles were spicy. 

 

The pork taco was really good! It was my fav.  It had bacon on it and the bacon didn't taste like normal bacon it tasted like bacon they made not store bought.

 

The hochata milk was really good too because there was banana ice cream and cinamin in it.

The chocolate tart thing was delice! It was like pie crust that was cooked crispy and melted chocolate in the inside.

The restaurant itself was very homey looking place. There are a lot of antique looking things inside and they have antique plates that they collected.

Tuesday - I have my "Snail Mail" camp at 826CHI so I am planning on taking my dad to lunch at Antique Taco.  I know he will love the pork tacos!

Church Camp

On Monday I went to the first day of camp. It was called A Royal Adventure. Its based on the movie Narnia. Everyday there's a Narnia character we learned about.

On Monday we learned about Lucy and being valient.

Tuesday we learned about Peter and being magnificent

.

Wednesday we learned about Susan and being gentle.

On Thursday we learned about Edmund and justice.

AND FRIDAY -  We had a Royal Banquet! We didn't really have fancy food but everything was very golden. I really mean it things were really gold (not real gold). Then we went upstairs to party and dance.

In summary -  I learned that you need to be gentle, magnificent, justice, and valient. I also learned that there are so many ways to speak to the lord.


I was on the worship team and I got to work behind the scenes at camp as well as partake in group activiies.

826CHI - Sporker!

Today I went to a writing camp that was called sporker. We tasted sweet things - oreos, spicy things - wasabi beans, really sour things - dill pickle lays, and bitter - 90% dark chocolate. What we did was write reviews on them for the real thing next week. We are going to go to a restaurant, The Antique Taco and be food critics. We made our own disquises for us to wear to the restaurant.  Because the place is expecting us and we don't won't special treatment, we want the treatment a customer would get. We are not going to stand out at all.  But that's next week


The fun started before the class actually. My mom and I were 30 minutes early so we went to a cafe.  It was called Filter - and it was cool.  There was really neat art work on the wall and tons of comfy couches to sit on.  Mom hung out there while I was in my class.

Tasty Tastes

Yesterday my family and I went to the Taste of Chicago. We first went to a cheese cake booth, Eli's, and I got the taste a serving of cheese cake. It was so good.

Then we got some cat fish and potato chips from BJ's, one of our favorites, those were also tasty! It got really dark out and we had to seek cover for a thunderstorm that came.  A lot of people started to leave but they were going to come back after the rain stopped, like us. We went into a corner bakery and got some drinks while we watched the rain drizzle then pour down really hard. When the rain stopped we went back and ate some more.

We got rainbow ice cream with nuts in it.  My mom went to the beer tent while we got to taste two types of sodas and a tea.  I also tried fried green beans for the first time while mom got us some pot stickers from Star of Siam.  YUM!  Did I mention that this was Cillian's first taste? 

 

To escape the heat - we stood under the mister.   We ended the taste w a potato pancake (latke),  mac and cheese balls and churos. We also got fried green beans from Harold's Chicken Shack and I loved it!!!

Before we took a cta train ride home we stopped for a game of chess - Could Chicago get any more fun?

Trip to downtown

Today I went downtown and it was really fun. I've gone downtown many times but this was different because it wasn't too hot and it wasn't to cold it was perfect!! I went to the farmers market by the new children's hospital! I tasted a slice of cucumber and I had a crepe that was called Beelicious. It was a plain crape with honey and whipped cream. It was so good and tasty!!!!: )

We also went to the Museaum of contempary art. I got to make my own sky line. I also got to see so many different pieces of art. There were three walls covered in 9/11 head lines and it was so cool.

We're having a heat wave......

Last week there was a huge heat wave! My brother has a pool and he actually sat down in it because the water was warm from the weather. Our house was so cool from the air conditioner. I remember seeing on the news, people without air conditioners and heat warnings and all the interventions from the OEMC that has to do with heat. But then a huge storm came and I'm pretty sure all the plants were happy and all the animals. I just can't wait till winter because my birthday is in the winter - and it's cooler!!

My Summer Job

So last week I walked a dog for 4 days named Rio. She was very nice to me the first day but on the second day she bit me and she wouldn't let me walk her.  Then - I had the weekend off.  On Monday she still wouldn't let me walk her so she didn't get walked. On Tuesday, today, I didn't have to walk her because her husband was home. We all think she didn't let me walk her because she was confused, she missed her owner, and we think it had to do with her past because she was found by animal control and paws got her.

The coolest thing - I still got paid.  I do feel bad for getting paid when I couldn't fulfill my mission.  But I did go over and check on her and make sure she was okay.  

That was my summer job!

Daddy Daughter night

It was Daddy Daughter night - something I look forward to!
Tonight my dad took me to see Brave.

It is a really good lesson learning movie for anyone. From toddler to princess, Mom to bear, Dad to bear hunter, wood carver to witch, Prince to evil bear, three brothers to three cute little bears,  Princess and Mom to two brave girls. Meredith (the princess) tries to change her moms mind about the marriage competition but the potion she uses turns her mom into a bear. In the next two days, in the morning her mom will be a permanent bear forever. They go through twists and turns to change her back to a human.

Yet another book by Mary downing hahn

The next book I'm reading is All the Lovely Bad Ones.

I downloaded it on a kindle and its my first book I will be reading on my kindle.

This is another novle by one of my favorite authors. She puts so much detail in her books that you curl up and have to read with the lights on!  It makes the book more amazing and tells you more about what is going on. So far the book is detailed on the scene and the thoughts of characters.

Wait till Helen comes

'Monday I finished my book called Wait till Helen comes.

Its about this family that moves to the country into an old church. The weirder thing is that there is a graveyard in their back yard but the good thing is that the care taker is not scarey. Mollys sister Heather talks to a girl named Helen and her intinals are H.E.H and thougts are Heathers initials too. Molly and Michael are mean to her and Heather says when Helen comes you'll be sorry.  And when she comes Theirs lives change a lot.

Summer Camp Rocks

Last Thursday I came home from camp!: ( It was so much fun. On Thursday we went swimming and it started raining so we took showers and got ready for a nice day. When everyone was ready we went to a siting area and ate lunch. We had sandwiches with watermelon. After that we played bingo witch was soooo much fun because I would be one square away and someone would yell "BINGO"! Then after that our leaders told us we were going to go into town when we leave and see Madagascar 3 in 3-D.So we left and saw the movie. Everyone saw the movie before except for the leaders and two other girls. When we left and we were going home we were all talkative but then one girl fell asleep then another then the rest did. I was looking out the window and realized that it was so quiet. I turned around and everyone was sleeping so I wanted fall asleep to so I did. When I woke up someone else woke up and then another and then another and then another and then the last girl. We all talked and we got yelled at for talking to much. When we got home two parents were left. Then one came and then another. I waited there with my leader and my mom came and took me home.




                     I still miss camp. See you next year camp.

Summer has begun!!!

Today I'm going to go to camp and I just can't wait!!!! We are going to go swimming twice a day but today we are going swimming once because we are going to get there after lunch. ;'( The camp site is in Sandwich, Illinois.  We are not going to a girl scout camp site we are going to go to a place where you can go in your r.v. or trailer. You can also stay in a tent or cabin. We are staying in tents. Since we are going to go during the week no one is going to be there but us, just like last year when we went during the week no one was there. Last year, our leader gave us candy and we left it in the chairs cup holders and the raccoons ate through the cup holders to get it.  Now when she goes to put her drink in the cup holder it falls right through.

Hello!! My name is Rowan. I'm starting a blog so i get better at my writing. One of the books I'm reading this summer is called, Wait Till Helen Comes, by Mary Downing Hahn.

It is about this family that moves to the country in an old church with an old cemmitary in the back yard. The kids didn't even know they were moving the day before they moved. (If I was living in an old church I would be ok with it but with an old cemmitary in the back yard I would not be ok with it.)  I've only started the book but it is very interesting and egaging.
